LYDNEY DOCKS A once thriving harbour where colossal amounts of Forest of Dean Coal was exported from here to Ireland and many UK ports . At one time these docks had at least 4 coal loading gantries and ships would have to wait their turn to load from the railway wagons that filled the former sidings. Coal trade had finished by the early 1960s and the docks slipped into complete disuse by the 1980s. Thankfully the harbour is now being restored for maritime and general pleasure use
